Cemetery Fall Clean up to begin November 1st, 2018

Please have all memorial decorations that are faded or broken removed by November 1, 2018.  Our cemetery crew will be working to cleaned up the cemetery for the winter season.  Decorations which have become worn, faded, or destroyed by inclement weather will be disposed of upon the discretion of the groundskeeper or Cemetery Board of Trustees.

The Village of South Amherst, through its Cemetery Board, administers and maintains two cemeteries within the Village. 

Pioneer Cemetery is located on South Lake Street and is the resting place of many of our early settlers.

Evergreen Cemetery is located on West Main Street (Route 113) next to The United Methodist Church.  Evergreen has a Memorial Garden which was added in 2005.   For information regarding lot sales or other questions, please contact the Cemetery Board Clerk at 440-986-2202.

Evergreen Cemetery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  During Daylight Savings Time, the evening hour is extended until 8:00 p.m. 

To download the Cemetery Rules, you can click here for pdf version.  Any payments for lot sales, opening and closing costs, footers, and memorial brick orders should be made payable to Evergreen Cemetery  103 W Main St, South Amherst, Oh 44001.  We will no longer accept any financial transactions conducted on cemetery grounds.  Rules are also available upon request at town hall.

Cemetery Rates are as follows:

Non-Resident Cremation Lot (4X5): $420.00                              
Cremation Burial: $330.00                               
Records Charge (Replace deeds, transfer deeds, and record second remains in casket) $50.00                                  
Military Footer: $100.00                               
All other Footers: Current: $120.00 + $4.00 per running inch up to and including 20 inches in width. Twenty two inch in width will be at $4.50 a running inch. Twenty four inch in width will be at $5.00 a running inch.  All others at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

Gravel Bed                              $ 50.00                                           

***Any funeral arrivals after 2:00 PM have an additional charge of $150.00.  Any Saturday funerals are an additional charge of $150.00


Memorial Garden Information

Bricks, tables and benches may be purchased for placement in the Memorial Garden.  Prices are as follows:

Bricks:     4" X 8" are $75.00 each, which includes a 3-line inscription

                8" X 8" are $150.00 each, which includes a 6-line inscription

Table:      $1,500.00

Bench:     $5,500.00
