The Village of South Amherst Centennial Picnic
The Village of South Amherst has turned 100! In celebration of our centennial, the village will be hosting a Community Picnic on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at SACP. For anyone who is interested in helping plan the event, the first organizational meeting will be held Wednesday, February 28, 7 p.m. at town hall.
About the park
The Village’s Park Board had been working for several years to develop a park on 18+ acres in the Village. The Park is located on West Main Street. The entrance is on the south side of the street marked by a sign reading “SOUTH AMHERST COMMUNITY PARK”. There is parking, a picnic pavilion, playground, and walking path.
Palmer Path, a walking trail from the corner of Church and Eberhardt Streets, connects the neighbors to the Park.
The paved walking path is open year round, weather permitting. During the winter please park in front of gates.
A playground area is available for youngsters. Swings, slide, and monkey bars have been installed.
The Pavilion is a great place for picnics.
Park Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during standard time and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during daylight savings time.
No motorized vehicles are allowed beyond the parking area.
No dumping in the Park.
No grills are allowed on the picnic tables.
Dogs are allowed, but waste must be picked up. There are dog stations available.
Come see, explore and enjoy this valuable asset.
