


South Amherst is a quiet little village of 683 homes, ten businesses and six churches in Lorain County, Ohio. South Amherst is nestled between the City of Amherst to the North and the City of Oberlin to the South, and is about 30 miles west of the City of Cleveland.
South Amherst is home to the world’s largest sandstone quarry -- Buckeye Quarry.
The Village has a Volunteer Fire Department, a part-time Police Department consisting of 20 officers, a new Park, and a Recreation Program consisting of Softball and Hot Stove teams, who have won seven State Championships and numerous second places. Evergreen Cemetery is located within the Village and is run by the Village Cemetery Board.

South Amherst is a member of the Firelands Local Schools, consisting of Firelands Elementary School, South Amherst Middle School, and Firelands High School – home of the Falcons.
